The City of Lake Charles has announced a closure of all administrative offices and services, including City Hall, on Tuesday, January 21, 2025. This decision is due to inclement weather and the potential for icy road conditions, as stated by City Administrator John Cardone.
City services are expected to resume on Wednesday, January 22, 2025. During the closure, transit operations will be suspended because of potentially dangerous road conditions.
Solid Waste personnel plan to empty trash cans on Wednesday, January 22, following the normal Monday collection routes when it is safe to do so. Trash collection for Tuesday's routes is scheduled for Thursday, January 23, weather permitting. The collection schedule will continue with Thursday’s route on Friday, January 24, and Friday’s routes on Saturday, January 25.
Additionally, the Nelson Road/Alma Lane Recycling Station and Green Truck Recycling service will not operate on Tuesday. These services are set to return to their regular schedules on Wednesday.
Residents are advised to exercise caution while driving due to possible invisible ice. Public safety employees and public works crews will monitor street conditions continuously.
