The City of Lake Charles has announced changes to its garbage, trash, and recycling collection schedule in observance of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday on Monday, January 20, 2025. City Hall will be closed on this day, and there will be no trash or garbage collection.

Adjustments to the collection schedule are as follows: Trash and garbage typically collected on Monday will instead be picked up on Tuesday, January 21. Similarly, collections normally scheduled for Tuesday will occur on Wednesday, January 22. Thursday and Friday routes will not experience any changes.

In addition to these adjustments, all services provided by the Department of Public Works—including Recycling Operations at Nelson Ball Field/Alma Lane, Wood Waste Facility, and the Roving Green Truck—will also be closed on January 20 but will resume normal operations on January 21.

Residents are reminded that containers and items for removal should be placed before 7 a.m. on the designated collection day or the evening before. It is required that containers be removed by 7 p.m. after collection. Responsibility for cleaning up any spillage from containers lies with the owner or occupant.
