The City of Lake Charles has announced a series of events for the second quarter of 2025 under its Partners in Parks initiative. These events are designed to be family-friendly, free, and open to the public unless stated otherwise.

The schedule kicks off on April 5 with "Fishing for Fun" at Riverside Park from 10 am to noon. The following week, on April 12, the United States Coast Guard will host their second annual "Wind, Waves & Wheels" event at Veterans Memorial Park. On April 19, the city will hold its third annual Citywide Easter Egg Hunt at Hillcrest Park. The month concludes with an Earth Day celebration on April 26 at Hillcrest Park.

May begins with the Louisiana Region 5 STEM Center's Cardboard Canoe Contest on May 3 at North Beach. On May 10, Bark du Lac Dog Park will host "Paws in the Park." National Kids to Parks Day is set for May 17 at Lock Park, and Sasol’s "Nature in Focus: Wings of Wonder & All Things Birds" will take place on May 31 at Tuten Park.

June's events include a Junior Golf Clinic by Mallard Golf Club on June 2 and Phillips 66's annual STEM Day in the Park on June 14. A Summer Fun Skate Night is scheduled for June 20 at the Lake Charles Event Center, and Art in the Park will return on June 28 at McMillan Park.

Mayor Nic Hunter commented, “We’re off to a strong start in 2025 with our Partners in Parks programming.” He noted that this initiative has led to record numbers of residents visiting city parks and emphasized its role in expanding opportunities for citizens of all ages.

Launched in July 2018 by Mayor Hunter’s administration, Partners in Parks aims to improve park infrastructure and expand programming through combined private and public funding. To date, it has generated over $1.7 million for city parks without additional taxation.

For those interested in supporting city parks financially, donations can be made online via www.foundationswla.org. Event details are subject to change; updates can be found on www.cityoflakecharles.com or www.facebook.com/LakeCharles/Louisiana.
