The City of Lake Charles is excited to announce the return of the Children's Mardi Gras Stroll on Saturday, February 10, 2024. This walking parade, specifically designed for children ages 3-12, will kick off at 10:30 a.m. from the LCB Cougar Stadium Parking Lot.

According to city officials, the Children's Mardi Gras Stroll, which first debuted in 2022, has become a beloved tradition for young revelers. Children are encouraged to participate by decorating their Mardi Gras umbrellas and showcasing their Mardi Gras spirit.

"Children are the heart and soul of Mardi Gras, and the Children's Mardi Gras Stroll allows them to experience the joy and excitement of the celebration in a safe and inclusive environment," said Mayor John Doe.

Registration and line-up for the parade will begin at 10 a.m. at the LCB Cougar Stadium Parking Lot. There is no fee to enter, making it accessible to all families in the community.

The parade route will take participants down 1st Avenue, where they will strut to the lively tunes of the Second Line Stroll. The parade will cover approximately four blocks from 4th Avenue to 8th Avenue before returning back to the staging area.

To enhance the festive atmosphere, several local school marching bands will provide live parade marching beats. The community is invited to come out and enjoy the show.

In addition to the parade, food trucks will be available on-site for concessions, ensuring that participants and spectators can refuel and indulge in delicious treats throughout the event.

It's important to note that the Children's Mardi Gras Stroll is a walking parade only. For the safety of all participants, motorized vehicles, bikes, strollers, skateboards, and pets are not allowed.

"The Children's Mardi Gras Stroll is a wonderful opportunity for families to come together and celebrate the spirit of Mardi Gras," said event organizer Jane Smith. "We invite everyone to join us for this special day of fun and festivities."
