City to Observe Juneteenth Holiday: Garbage, Trash and Recycling Collection Altered

The City of Lake Charles will observe the Juneteenth Holiday on Monday, June 19, 2023. Lake Charles City Hall will be closed on this day, and there will not be any trash or garbage picked up on Monday, June 19, 2023.  

Changes in trash and garbage pickup are as follows: 

Trash and garbage normally picked up on Monday will be rescheduled for pickup on Tuesday, June 20, 2023. 

Trash and garbage normally picked up on Tuesday will be rescheduled for pickup on Wednesday, June 21, 2023.

Thursday and Friday routes will remain on their regular schedules.

All other services of the Department of Public Works, including all Recycling Operations (Nelson Ball Field/Alma Lane and Roving Green Truck) and the Incinerator will be closed on Monday, June 19, 2023, but will resume regular hours of operation on Tuesday, June 20, 2023.

As a reminder containers and other items for removal shall be placed before the hour of 7 a.m. on collection day or on the evening proceeding collection day. Containers shall be removed no later than 7 pm on the day of collection.

The owner, occupant, tenant, etc., is responsible for collecting any spillage from the container.
