Lake Charles Mayor Nic Hunter expressed, “For decades we’ve listened to our community’s cries for programming geared specifically towards the teen demographic. We’ve done a tremendous job of providing high quality programming for so many of our youth. This initiative will help us better hit the mark with our teen population."

District A City Councilman Ronnie Harvey, Jr. shared, “This is a dream, decades in the making, finally brought to life. Our own Office of Juvenile Justice Services personnel tell us that our at-risk youth are most often getting in trouble between the hours of 3:30 – 9 pm. We are thrilled to take this positive step forward, by providing this environment built just for teens. The Anchor Teen Center will meet a dire need in servicing the youth of our community."

Bradley Drury, CVP Vice President of Sales and Marketing, expressed CVP's excitement about the partnership with the City, stating, “We are committed to investing in the communities within which we do business, for the benefit of those who live and work there. We are grateful for the great collaboration between ourselves and the City of Lake Charles."

The Anchor Teen Center, located at Goosport Park, will be open Monday through Friday from 3:30pm to 8pm, offering teens a safe and structured environment to enjoy activities like gaming consoles, basketball, volleyball, and more. The Center's redesign, programming, and staffing are made possible through a partnership with Cremer Volunteer Pastilles (CVP), who are providing annual contributions through a five-year commitment matched by the City.

Additionally, the Cpl. Donald Ray Stevens Community Center, the site of the Anchor Teen Center, also provides afterschool feeding for schoolchildren, summer camp programming options, and hosts the Calcasieu Parish Public Library’s Epps Memorial Branch while their permanent location is under construction.
