The City of Lake Charles has announced its holiday schedule for garbage and trash collection. For both the Christmas and New Year’s holidays, all routes will follow their normal pickup schedules.

On Wednesday, December 25, 2024, the Wood Waste Facility, Team Green Recycling Truck, and Nelson Ball Field Recycling Stations will be closed for Christmas. These services will resume on Thursday, December 26, 2024. The same facilities will also be closed on Wednesday, January 1, 2025, for New Year's Day and will reopen on Thursday, January 2, 2025.

Residents are reminded that containers should be placed before 7 a.m. on collection days or the evening before. They should be removed by 7 p.m. on the day of collection. Responsibility for cleaning any spillage from containers lies with the owner or occupant.

Live Christmas trees can be left curbside for collection after removing all decorations and lights. A special Christmas Tree Recycling Drop-off is scheduled for Saturday, January 4, 2025, at the Nelson Road/Alma Lane Recycling Station from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Lake Charles City Hall and other Department of Public Works services will not operate on December 25 and January 1 due to the holidays but will return to normal hours on December 26 and January 2 respectively.
