Congressman Clay Higgins, Chairman of the Oversight Subcommittee on Federal Law Enforcement, has announced an investigation into the leak of sensitive government documents. These documents detailed the operations for apprehending and deporting illegal migrants by law enforcement officers.
In early February, a federal official disclosed information to the media about U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) activities in Denver and Los Angeles. This leak is said to have endangered public safety by allowing dangerous criminals to avoid arrest and deportation.
Higgins has called for a staff-level briefing with FBI Director Kash Patel, along with Acting Directors from the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, Explosives (ATF), and ICE.
“The recent breach of federal immigration enforcement operations has put our national security at risk and jeopardized the life of every American,” stated Congressman Higgins. “President Trump is working to secure our border and put an end to the Biden administration’s open-border policies. The leak of classified information has allowed criminals to evade apprehension and has caused serious harm to our country. In my continued efforts for full transparency, my first investigation as Chairman of the Subcommittee on Federal Law Enforcement will work to hold these deep-state leakers accountable and prevent any further leaks from happening.”
The letters addressed to FBI Director Kash Patel, DEA Acting Director Derek Maltz, ICE Acting Director Caleb Vitello, and ATF Acting Director Kash Patel are available for review.
