The City of Lake Charles is partnering with various organizations to host a Gator Meet-N-Greet event on Saturday, January 27, 2024. The event will take place at the Lakefront Alligator Pond, just east of Visit Lake Charles, from 10 am to noon.

This free event is being organized in collaboration with the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, the Southwest Louisiana Master Naturalists, and Visit Lake Charles. Attendees will have the unique opportunity to hold baby alligators and learn more about their natural habitat.

In addition to the interactive experience with alligators, the community is encouraged to provide feedback and contribute to the future redesign plans for the Lakefront Alligator Pond. This initiative aims to engage the public in envisioning the future of this valuable natural resource.

The Gator Meet-N-Greet will proceed as scheduled regardless of the weather conditions. However, in the event of inclement weather, the venue will be moved indoors to Visit Lake Charles, located at 1205 N. Lakeshore Dr.

For more information about this exciting event, interested individuals can contact 337-491-1280 or email [email address].

According to a representative from the City of Lake Charles Partners in Parks Initiative, "The Gator Meet-N-Greet provides a fantastic opportunity for people of all ages to interact with baby alligators and learn about their natural environment. We are thrilled to partner with the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, the Southwest Louisiana Master Naturalists, and Visit Lake Charles to make this event possible."
