The City of Lake Charles Department of Public Works, Solid Waste Division has provided an update on trash and garbage collection following disruptions caused by last week's winter storm. Collection services resumed on Friday, January 24, 2025, after being suspended for most of the week due to icy road conditions and closures at the landfill and transfer stations.
Crews worked late into the evening on January 24 and continued until 5:30 pm on Saturday, January 25, to complete the scheduled routes for Friday and begin Monday's collections. Currently, crews are finishing Monday's routes and will start Tuesday's as time permits today. They plan to work until dark.
On Tuesday, January 28, efforts will focus on completing Tuesday’s routes and starting Thursday’s with the aim of finishing them by Wednesday's end. Residents are advised to place their trash cans at the roadside. The department assures that all households will be serviced as quickly and safely as possible.
City Solid Waste crews express gratitude for the community's patience during this period and request continued understanding as they work daily until dark to catch up with solid waste collection.
