According to City Administrator John Cardone, all administrative offices and services in the City of Lake Charles, including City Hall and Transit Services, are set to resume normal operations at 4:30 pm today, Thursday, January 23, 2025.
The Shattuck Street and Enterprise Boulevard overpasses remain closed due to icy road conditions. LCPD and City Public Works crews are actively monitoring these overpasses and will reopen them when they are deemed safe for travel. Public safety officials assure the community that these closures do not hinder their ability to respond to emergency calls. Residents needing emergency assistance should dial 911.
Road conditions permitting and contingent on the operational status of waste transfer partners, Solid Waste crews plan to resume trash and garbage collection on Friday, January 24, 2025. Crews will follow their regular Friday collection routes and continue with normal weekly routes starting Monday, January 27, 2025.
The Nelson Road/Alma Lane Team Green Recycling Truck and Solid Waste Incinerator are currently closed but are scheduled to resume operations on Friday, January 24, weather permitting. Solid Waste crews will work diligently to catch up on trash collection efforts and appreciate the community’s patience during this time. They assure citizens that all locations throughout the city will be serviced as quickly and safely as possible.
