Lake Charles Mayor Nic Hunter is calling on local grocery stores, food distribution companies, casinos, and other businesses to assist in providing Thanksgiving meals for those in need during the 2024 holiday season.
The 2024 Mayor’s Turkey Challenge seeks to offer a complete Thanksgiving feast, including turkey, to local families. The initiative requires twenty donations of $250 each to United Way of Southwest Louisiana to achieve its goal.
“Many people think most politicians are turkeys, so I’m going to make the most out of this stigma,” said Mayor Nic Hunter. “In coordination with United Way of Southwest Louisiana, I’m issuing the 2024 Mayor’s Turkey Challenge in hopes of providing some relief during this holiday season to those in need.”
