The City of Lake Charles Community Services Department has announced the completion of several maintenance projects at local ballfields. This off-season work involved regrading fields at Henry Heights, Nelson Road, College Oaks, and Weaver Park.
During the maintenance, sod was removed from all fields, and they were regraded to ensure proper play and improved drainage. Base cut-outs were reset, and new sod made from a high-end grass hybrid was installed to withstand heat and frequent use.
Mayor Nic Hunter commented on the progress: "We continue to make steady progress with upgrading our ballfields citywide," he said. "We are committed to taking additional steps to enhance and upgrade these facilities. We want our young athletes to have access to quality play environments and these recently completed projects are just one step we are taking to provide a better recreational experience."
