Cost of college went down for all students at McNeese State University

In-state tuition and fees fell 0.8 percent for 2018-19 at McNeese State University, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Louisiana residents paid $7,860 to attend the four-year public institution this year – $60 less than the $7,920 charged for 2017-18.

Non-residents paid 102.3 percent more than residents this year, or $15,898. Their price tag was reduced 0.4 percent from $15,958 in 2017-18.

About 87 percent of the school's undergraduate population are Louisiana residents. About 10 percent are residents of other states and 3 percent are citizens of other countries.

Data shows 93 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 1,147 students received grants or scholarships totaling $9.7 million and 456 students took out student loans totaling more than $2.3 million.

Including all undergraduates (7,647), 5,061 students used grants or scholarships totaling $36.8 million, and 2,504 students took out $16 million in federal student loans.
