The City of Lake Charles has announced changes to trash and garbage collection due to the Thanksgiving holiday on Thursday, November 28, 2024. There will be no collection services on that day.
For residents with a regular Thursday pickup schedule, collection will occur on Friday, November 29, 2024. Those who typically have their trash collected on Friday will have their service moved to Saturday, November 30, 2024.
Recycling stations and facilities like the Wood Waste Facility and Nelson Ball Field (Alma Lane) will also close on Thanksgiving Day. They are set to reopen for normal operations on Friday, November 29, 2024.
Residents are reminded that "containers and other items for removal shall be placed before the hour of 7 a.m. on collection day or on the evening preceding collection day." It is also stated that containers must be removed by "no later than 7 pm on the day of collection."
Additionally, it is noted that "the owner, occupant, tenant, etc., is responsible for collecting any spillage from the container."
Other city services under the Department of Public Works and Lake Charles City Hall will remain closed both Thursday and Friday in observance of Thanksgiving. Regular business hours will resume on Monday, December 2, 2024.
