The City of Lake Charles has announced a series of Halloween activities for October 2024. The events are designed to provide festive entertainment for residents and visitors.
On Saturday, October 19, from 9 to 11 a.m., Bark du Lac Park will host the third annual Howl-O-Ween Doggie Dress-Up Day. Organized by the City in collaboration with Gill Bright Animal Hospital, this event invites dogs and their owners to participate in a costume contest. All participating dogs must be vaccinated, leashed, non-aggressive, and not in heat. Owners are responsible for cleaning up after their pets.
A Sasol Nature in Focus Bat Walk is scheduled at Drew Park on Friday, October 25, from 6 to 8 p.m. Participants are advised to bring flashlights and dress according to the weather.
The Downtown Candy Crawl will take place on Saturday, October 26, from 3 to 7 p.m., co-hosted by the City of Lake Charles and the Downtown Business Association. Attendees can also explore The Great Pumpkin Trail at Tuten Park daily from Friday, October 25 through Sunday, October 27.
For a safe Halloween experience on Thursday, October 31, the City partners with Prien Lake Mall, Vexus Fiber, and Healthy Blue for the Boo-Tastic Bash. This event includes mall-wide trick-or-treating from 5 to 7 p.m., with children encouraged to wear costumes while collecting candy.
The Recreation and Parks Department will offer Harvest Fest games during the Boo-Tastic Bash at Prien Lake Mall. Toy weapons are prohibited and costume masks may only be worn during trick-or-treating.
The City suggests that trick-or-treat activities conclude by 8 p.m., with parents ensuring children return home by 8:30 p.m., unless attending supervised functions organized by other parents or civic groups.
