The City of Lake Charles is organizing a special Music in the Park event in collaboration with Historic City Hall Arts and Cultural Center and Upscale Productions. Scheduled for Friday, October 11, 2024, this free event will be held from 5-7 pm at Nellie Lutcher Memorial Park, located at 702 Enterprise Blvd.
The celebration will honor the birthday of Nellie Lutcher, a renowned R&B and Jazz singer and pianist born in Lake Charles on October 15, 1912. Attendees can enjoy live jazz music by Leah Nicole, known for her Nellie Lutcher style performances. The A.M. Barbe High String Orchestra will also perform live at the event. In addition to music, there will be a soul food truck and birthday treats available.
Community members are encouraged to bring blankets or lawn chairs to this family-friendly gathering. However, pets are not permitted within the park premises to ensure the comfort and safety of all attendees.
