The City of Lake Charles has announced plans for its annual Red, White, Blue & You Celebration. This event will feature two free patriotic concerts at the Lake Charles Event Center, beginning on Wednesday, July 3, 2024.
On July 3, the United States Air Force Band of the West will perform at the Rosa Hart Theatre as part of their 4th of July Concert Tour. The concert promises a diverse program ranging from big band hits of the 1940s to new compositions written exclusively for this tour. Doors will open at 5 pm and the show will begin at 6 pm. Concessions will be available for purchase.
Independence Day, Thursday, July 4, 2024, will include concessions, face painting, and a fireworks display over the lake. The program begins at 5:30 pm with music from Lake Charles Community Band’s “Bayou Big Band.” The Flamethrowers are scheduled to perform at 7:00 pm. Fireworks will start at 9:15 pm and be choreographed to music simulcast on KBYS 88.3 FM.
Spectators are encouraged to bring blankets or lawn chairs. In case of inclement weather, events will move to the Sudduth Coliseum in the Event Center.
Elise Fox, a student at SOWELA Technical Community College, won this year’s Red, White, Blue & You logo design contest. The contest is a semester project under SOWELA instructor Darrell Buck's direction.
The event is presented by the City of Lake Charles in collaboration with Coca-Cola, Visit Lake Charles, Entergy, Lake Charles Toyota and Howell Furniture. Additional support comes from M&C Oilfield Services, Herc Rentals, Lake Area Adventures, Game2Life and KBYS 88.3FM.
