Calcasieu Parish announces free summer meal program for children

The Calcasieu Parish Police Jury Human Services Department and the City of Lake Charles have announced the commencement of the 2024 Summer Food Service Program. Starting Monday, June 3, meals will be provided at various locations throughout Calcasieu Parish.

Lunch will be served daily from Monday to Friday until July 26. The service will not be available on June 19 due to Juneteenth observance and on July 4 for the Fourth of July holiday. Children aged 18 and under are eligible to receive meals at no cost, with no registration required. Participation is open to all children regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, or disability. Meals will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the following sites:

- DeQuincy Primary School, DeQuincy

- First Baptist Church, Sulphur

- Hamilton Christian Academy, Lake Charles

- LaGrange High School, Lake Charles

- MLK Center, Lake Charles

- Moss Bluff Middle School, Moss Bluff

- Sulphur Housing Authority, Sulphur

- Sulphur High Ninth Grade Campus, Sulphur

- Washington-Marion High School, Lake Charles

- Westlake Multi-Purpose Complex, Westlake

- Western Heights Elementary School, Westlake

- W.T. Henning Elementary School, Sulphur

Additionally, breakfast will be served from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. at these locations:

- Iowa High School in Iowa

- JI Watson Elementary School in Iowa

- Western Heights Elementary School in Westlake

- Westlake Multi-Purpose Complex in Westlake

All food must be consumed on-site as no food can be taken out of the facility.
