Lake Charles alters waste collection schedule for Memorial Day

The City of Lake Charles has announced that it will observe Memorial Day on Monday, May 27, 2024. Consequently, the City Hall will be closed and there will be no trash or garbage collection on this day.

In light of this observance, changes in trash and garbage pickup have been outlined. Trash and garbage usually collected on Monday will be rescheduled for pickup on Tuesday, May 28, 2024. Similarly, trash and garbage typically picked up on Tuesday will be rescheduled for Wednesday, May 29, 2024. However, Thursday and Friday routes will continue to follow their regular schedules.

Furthermore, all other services of the Department of Public Works including Recycling Operations (Nelson Ball Field/Alma Lane and Roving Green Truck) and the Incinerator will also be closed on Monday, May 27, 2024. These services are set to resume their regular hours of operation on Tuesday, May 28, 2024.

Residents are reminded to place containers and other items for removal before the hour of 7 a.m. on collection day or on the evening preceding collection day. Containers should be removed no later than 7 p.m. on the day of collection. The responsibility for collecting any spillage from the container lies with the owner, occupant or tenant.
