Congressman Clay Higgins (R-LA) revealed that Cole Ritter, an eleventh grader at Southside High School in Youngsville, is the winner of the 2024 Congressional Art Competition for Louisiana’s 3rd District. Ritter’s artwork, titled “Rocket Lying on The Bed,” is a black and white charcoal drawing depicting his dog Rocket on his parents’ bed. Higgins commended Ritter's talent, stating, “Cole’s artwork is a beautiful piece showcasing the love of man’s best friend. It’s an honor to have his brilliant work representing Louisiana’s 3rd District in the U.S. Capitol.”
The Congressional Art Competition, initiated in 1982, is an annual event sponsored by the U.S. House of Representatives for high school students. The competition aims to recognize and encourage the artistic skills of young constituents. Over 650,000 high school students have participated in this nationwide competition.
