Congressman Clay Higgins (R-LA) has announced that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will be providing an additional $2,949,776.63 million in federal grants for hurricane recovery efforts in Southwest Louisiana. This funding comes as a result of the major disaster declaration for Hurricane Laura (DR-4559-LA), which Congressman Higgins has been supporting.

The reimbursement includes $1,608,031.43 to the Society of the Roman Catholic Church for repairs to St. Margaret School, and $1,341,745.20 to the City of Lake Charles for repairs to the Henry Heights Recreation Center. Both reimbursements are made at a 90% federal cost-share and are authorized under Section 406 of the Robert T. Stafford Act.

In his statement, Congressman Higgins emphasized the importance of the work that goes on behind the scenes to secure funding for recovery projects. He highlighted the ongoing efforts with FEMA and state and local stakeholders that have led to the finalization of this funding. It is important to note that all funding will be delivered to the State of Louisiana, which will then be responsible for disbursing the funds to each sub-recipient.

Speaking about the resilience of Southwest Louisiana, Congressman Higgins stated, "Southwest Louisiana does not let storms destroy our spirit. We are Louisiana strong. To date, we have delivered over $4.2 billion in recovery relief. Our office will continue to prioritize hurricane recovery and work with our local, state, and federal partners to ensure that much needed resources are delivered for renewed economic growth and prosperity."

This announcement comes as part of Congressman Higgins' ongoing efforts to support hurricane recovery in the region. The Congressman has been actively working to secure funding and resources to aid in the recovery and rebuilding process.

The funding from FEMA will provide a much-needed boost to Southwest Louisiana as it continues to recover from the devastation caused by Hurricane Laura. The repairs to St. Margaret School and the Henry Heights Recreation Center will help restore essential community facilities and support the local economy.

With this latest announcement, Congressman Higgins reaffirms his commitment to the people of Southwest Louisiana and his dedication to ensuring that they receive the necessary resources for a successful recovery.
