City of Lake Charles Announces Halloween Activities

The City of Lake Charles is announcing Halloween activities for the month of October 2023. 

On Saturday, October 14, from 10 a.m. – noon, head out to Bark du Lac Park (111 West Pine St.) for a spooky, tail-wagging good time. The City, through its Partners in Parks Initiative, is teaming up with Gill Bright Animal Hospital for its second annual Howl-O-Ween Doggie Dress-Up Day. 

Canines and their owners are invited to put on their best Halloween costume and compete for prizes. 

All dogs must be current on vaccinations, arrive on a leash, be non-aggressive and not currently in heat. Owners must clean up after their pets. 

The City of Lake Charles’ will also partner with Prien Lake Mall, Vexus Fiber and Healthy Blue to provide a safe Halloween experience for the entire family on Tuesday, October 31.

The Boo-Tastic Bash will feature a mall-wide trick-or-treat, from 5-7 p.m. Children are invited to come in costume to scour the mall and its retailers for candy, while supplies last. 

The City’s Recreation and Parks Department will provide Harvest Fest games. 

The Boo-Tastic Bash will all take place at Prien Lake Mall, located at 496 E. Prien Lake Road, and is free and open to the public to attend. Toy weapons will not be allowed and costume masks may only be worn during trick-or-treating.

The City recommends that trick-or-treat activities, on Tuesday, October 31, end at 8 p.m. Parents are encouraged to have their children home by 8:30 p.m. unless they are attending a supervised function sponsored by other parents or civic organizations.
