Calcasieu Parish schools welcomed 2,028 9th grade students in 2021-22 school year

There were 2,028 ninth grade students enrolled in Calcasieu Parish schools in the 2021-22 school year, 9.9% less than the previous year, according to the Louisiana Department of Education.

Sulphur High School welcomed the most ninth grade students in the parish.

Within Calcasieu Parish schools, the most students were found in seventh grade classes, while 12th grade classes were the smallest.

Statewide, Calcasieu Parish ranked 7th highest in enrollment numbers. It was ranked 8th highest the year before.

In 2022, there was roughly one teacher for every 18 students, compared to the national average of 1:16.
