Alex Jennings, the author of The Ballad of Perilous Graves, will give a reading on Saturday, April 1, at 7 p.m. in Stokes Auditorium in Hardtner Hall at McNeese State University.

This exciting writer will read from his novel that is set in an alternate-world New Orleans. Walter Mosely, New York Times bestselling author, calls it “a hallucinatory wonder of a debut. Brimming with language and music, this phantasmagoric novel taps the deep root of multicultural, multiracial life in and beyond, New Orleans.”

Jennings will also present a craft talk, “Beyond Pastiche: How Entering Into Conversation With Previous Works Can Strengthen the Impact of Fiction,” for McNeese students on Friday, March 31, at noon.

Jennings is an Ada Vincent Visiting Writer. The reading is sponsored by the McNeese Master of Fine Arts Creative Writing Program and is free and open to the public.

Founded in 1981, McNeese’s MFA degree program is the oldest MFA program in Louisiana and one of the oldest in the Southeast.
