McNeese State University’s rodeo team is off to a great start as the McNeese women’s rodeo team placed first and the men’s team placed second in the first rodeo competition of the season Sept. 23-24 at Panola College in Carthage, Texas.
For the women’s team, Mersadie Martin, Lufkin, Texas, placed first in goat tying, while Kamryn Duncan, Denham Springs, placed second and Kaylee Cormier, Iowa, placed 10th.
Kylie Conner, Welsh, placed third in breakaway roping and 10th place in barrels.
For the men’s team, Shea Fournier, Raceland, was named men’s all-around champion and he took first place in bull riding.
Isaac Richard, Eunice, took first place in saddle bronc riding while Fournier took fifth place.
In bareback riding, Connor Griffith, Bradford, Tennessee, placed sixth and Devin Byram, Welsh, placed ninth.
