70 percent of applicants to McNeese State University were admitted for fall 2018

At McNeese State University, 85 percent of undergraduate students are traditional students - age 24 or younger - and 59 percent are female, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The four-year public institution in Lake Charles enrolled 7,647 students in fall 2018, including 6,998 in undergraduate and 649 in graduate programs, data shows. 4.5 percent of undergraduates transferred from another college or university.

87 percent of undergraduates are residents of Louisiana, and 10 percent are residents of other states. 3 percent are citizens of foreign countries.

The undergraduate student body is comprised mostly of students who identify as white (70 percent) and Black or African American (16 percent).

The school admitted 70 percent of the 3,224 students who applied for fall 2018. Of those who were admitted, 61 percent enrolled.
