Congressman Clay Higgins from Louisiana has reached out to the state legislature, urging a collaborative effort towards fiscal reform. In a public letter released today, Higgins emphasized the need for reducing government expenditure and adopting conservative financial strategies.
The congressman expressed his admiration for Governor Jeff Landry and State Representative Julie Emerson, acknowledging their dedication to Louisiana. He stated, “Governor Jeff Landry and State Representative Julie Emerson are each true conservatives, dedicated to our state, and I’ve been honored to count each of them as close friends for many years. I appreciate their hard work in trying to lower taxes, cut spending, and increase revenue.”
Higgins highlighted the complexity of tackling high state spending levels inherited from previous administrations. He described it as an "incredibly challenging, complicated mission."
The letter also called for patience among citizens while legislative solutions are being developed. “I encourage calm, patient deliberation from all Louisiana citizens as the State Legislature works on solutions to improve our tax code and reduce government spending,” he added.
