City announces changes to trash collection schedule for Labor Day

The City of Lake Charles will observe the Labor Day Holiday on Monday, September 2, 2024. Consequently, there will be no trash or garbage collection on that day.

Changes to the trash and garbage pickup schedule are as follows:

- Trash and garbage normally collected on Monday will be rescheduled for Tuesday, September 3, 2024.

- Trash and garbage normally collected on Tuesday will be rescheduled for Wednesday, September 4, 2024.

- Thursday and Friday routes will remain unchanged.

All other services of the Department of Public Works and other City Departments, including Lake Charles City Hall and all Recycling Operations (Nelson Ball Field/Alma Ln, Wood Waste Facility, and Roving Green Truck), will be closed on Monday but will resume regular hours on Tuesday.

Residents are reminded that containers and other items for removal should be placed before 7 a.m. on collection day or the evening prior. Containers must be removed by 7 p.m. on the day of collection. The owner or occupant is responsible for collecting any spillage from the container.
