The City of Lake Charles will hold a public meeting on February 25, 2025, for property owners along Mardi Gras parade routes. The meeting aims to address how business operations may be affected during the Mardi Gras Weekend Parades. It is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. in the City Council Chambers at City Hall, located at 326 Pujo St.
City officials will provide information on various logistical aspects such as port-a-can placements, dumpster placements, law enforcement command center locations, and parking restrictions downtown. Additionally, they will discuss the timeline for barricade placement along Ryan Street.
Cardboard trash boxes with plastic liners will be distributed to property owners along the parade routes by the City of Lake Charles and Waste Management. Property owners are requested to collect trash left on their property and place these boxes in the public right of way along the parade route. The city's Solid Waste crews will begin picking up these boxes starting at 7 a.m., Wednesday morning, March 5.
The parade schedule includes several events utilizing the Ryan Street Parade Route:
- The Mardi Gras of SWLA Merchants’ Parade is set for Friday, February 28 at 7 p.m.
- The Children’s Parade is scheduled for Sunday, March 2 at 3:30 p.m.
- The Krewe of Krewes Parade will take place on Tuesday, March 4 at 5 p.m.
All parades will start from Bord du Lac Drive and follow a route ending at Sale Road.
Additional parades include:
- The Children's Mardi Gras Stroll on Saturday, March 1 at 9 a.m., designed specifically for children.
- The Krewe of Barkus Parade also on Saturday, March 1 at 1 p.m.
- Following this is the Krewe of Omega Parade on Saturday, March 1 at 2 p.m.
On Mardi Gras day itself:
- The Second Line Stroll Walking Parade begins at Pine and Ryan Streets at 1 p.m.
- Jeeps on Parade follows down Ryan Street starting from Pine Street to Sale Road at 2:30 p.m.
- Motor Gras Parade starts from Pine and Ryan Streets heading south to Sale Road beginning at 3 p.m.
