WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Clay Higgins (R-LA) expressed his support for Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry and Attorney General Liz Murrill's decision to file a lawsuit against the Biden administration's revised Title IX rules. The lawsuit aims to challenge the regulations that expand the definition of "sex" to include gender identity, impacting female students across the country.
In a statement, Congressman Higgins stated, "I stand with Louisiana’s leadership in strong opposition to the Biden administration’s radical changes to Title IX. The revised rule poses a major threat to female students across the country. I commend Attorney General Murrill and Governor Landry on their mission to protect fundamental American values and defend our children."
The revised Title IX regulations have raised concerns as they could allow biological males who identify as females to participate in women's sports and access women's restrooms, potentially compromising the rights and opportunities of female students. Congressman Higgins, who is an original co-sponsor of the Protection of Women and Girls in Sport Act of 2023, emphasized the importance of upholding protections for female athletes.
The lawsuit filed by Louisiana seeks to challenge the implementation of the new Title IX rules and protect the interests of female students in the state. The congressman's support for the legal action underscores the significance of safeguarding the rights and opportunities of female students in the education system.
