The City of Lake Charles Partners in Parks Initiative and Entergy are teaming up for an Arcs & Sparks Event on Saturday, July 15, 2023, from 10 am – noon. This free, interactive event will take place at Hillcrest Park, 2808 Hillcrest Dr.

This event will feature live demonstrations at 10:15 am and 11:15 am, showing real sparks from a transformer to educate attendees on how Entergy provides electrical power to the community, and how to stay safe around power lines.

“At Entergy, safety for our employees and our customers is top priority,” said Lorena Ceasar, Entergy Customer Service Manager II. “Our Arcs & Sparks power line demonstration is a tool used to teach our customers about power line safety, what our linemen do to stay safe and what you should do if you are ever in a situation involving downed power lines.”

Information topics will also include energy conservation and storm preparation. Refreshments will be served and Chuck the Train will also be present.

“Since its launch in 2018, our Partners in Parks initiative has focused on improving infrastructure in our parks and enhancing our park programming citywide,” added Mayor Nic Hunter. “Parks offer the opportunity to learn through interactive experiences and we are thrilled to partner with Entergy to bring Arcs & Sparks to Hillcrest Park. We thank them for their commitment to bringing unique educational experiences to our community.”

The free event is open to the public. For more information, call 337-491-1280 or email parks@cityoflc.us.
