McNeese State University students pursuing the Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Business Certificate and recipients of the Woodside Energy LNG Business Scholarship attended a panel discussion at the LNG Americas Summit and Exhibition in Lake Charles, according to a March 16 announcement.

The event provided College of Business students with an opportunity to interact directly with leaders in the global LNG sector. The panel, titled “New Regulatory Realities and the U.S. LNG Project Pipeline,” featured Sarah Bairstow, president of Woodside Energies’ Louisiana LNG.

After the panel, students joined Bairstow and Rachel Archer, vice president of Louisiana LNG, for a private lunch where they received career advice and learned more about opportunities in the industry. Jillian Anderson, an accounting major from Sulphur, said, “During this lunch we were able to discuss corporate responsibility, things that students value in our community and opportunities for future Woodside scholarship recipients to connect with the company. I cannot be more appreciative of this company’s compassion for the community in which it is expanding into, and the opportunities that they are giving McNeese students.”

Shaylinn Stahlman, an accounting and finance major from Westlake, said, “Woodside was generous to allow McNeese business students to attend the panel and speak with the president and vice president of Louisiana LNG. Our discussions were inspiring and reminded students of the many paths to success.”

In addition to providing scholarships, Woodside’s partnership offers exclusive engagement opportunities designed to help students develop knowledge and professional skills needed for careers in LNG.

For over 85 years, McNeese State University has been recognized as an institution known for innovation and academic excellence.
