Congressman Clay Higgins announced that the Social Security Administration (SSA) will start retroactive payments as part of the Social Security Fairness Act (SSFA). This announcement follows a letter sent by Congressman Higgins to the SSA's Acting Commissioner at the beginning of February, urging swift implementation of the SSFA.
In his statement, Congressman Higgins said, "We have restored righteousness to the Social Security benefits of our elders. Today’s announcement reflects our request to expedite implementation of the Social Security Fairness Act. Millions of Americans will now begin receiving the full benefits that they have righteously earned."
The SSA plans to complete most retroactive payment deposits by March's end. Adjustments to ongoing monthly benefits are expected in April payments. Some recipients may receive payments before getting an explanatory notice due to expedited processing. For further updates on implementation, individuals are encouraged to visit the SSA's website.
