Congressman Clay Higgins announced that the Social Security Fairness Act (SSFA), also known as H.R. 82, is set to become law. The bill has passed both the House and the U.S. Senate and now awaits the President's signature.

"Fairness for our elders at last, praise God fairness for our beloved elders at last. We have broken the yoke of unrighteous law and followed God’s Commandment to honor our Mothers and Fathers," stated Congressman Higgins.

The legislation aims to repeal the Windfall Elimination Provision (WEP) and Government Pension Offset (GPO), which have been criticized for penalizing millions of public workers across the country. Congressman Higgins has been a consistent advocate for this bill, co-sponsoring it in every Congress since he began serving.

Higgins' efforts to promote the SSFA include multiple actions over several years. He first co-sponsored the bill in December 2017 during the 115th Congress and continued his support through subsequent sessions. Notable actions include urging Speaker Pelosi for a vote on August 16, 2022, signing discharge petitions in September 2022 and September 2024, advocating during committee hearings, and delivering letters to key congressional leaders and co-sponsors throughout 2023 and 2024.

In addition to legislative actions, Congressman Higgins has engaged with constituents through press releases, emails, social media posts, and videos explaining the SSFA's significance and rallying support.
