The City of Lake Charles is set to commemorate National Kids to Parks Day on Saturday, May 18, by inviting the community to participate in a citywide Park Scavenger Hunt. This event is part of an annual celebration held by the National Park Trust on the third Saturday of May each year. The aim of this day is to encourage outdoor activities and foster connections between children, families, and their local recreational facilities.
In honor of this longstanding tradition, the City of Lake Charles Recreation and Parks Department has crafted a citywide park scavenger hunt that guarantees free entertainment for all family members. The scavenger hunt allows families to progress at their own speed, commencing at 10 a.m. with the first clue being issued at Hillcrest Park (2808 Hillcrest Dr.). Park attendants will be stationed at each park along the route, prepared to distribute the next clue.
The Citywide Scavenger Hunt will culminate at Historic City Hall (1001 Ryan St.) with a family-friendly celebration scheduled from noon – 1 p.m. Prizes and refreshments will be available for attendees.
This event is open to everyone and free of charge. For additional information, please contact 337-491-1280 or email.
