WASHINGTON, D.C- Congressman Clay Higgins (R-LA) announced today that Louisiana’s 3rd District will receive an additional $4,300,000 in Community Project Funding through H.Res. 1102, which passed the U.S. House of Representatives. This funding comes in addition to the $40.4 million previously announced for the district.
In a statement, Congressman Higgins explained his perspective on the funding allocation process, stating, “I opposed House Resolution 1102 because of the total level of overall spending and the removal of many Conservative policy riders through the Senate. However, I dedicated months of effort to get our community funding language included in the 12 appropriations bills that were passed through the House.” He emphasized the collaborative nature of the process, highlighting, “My office worked very closely with our local government entities and district stakeholders for the better part of 2023 to secure Louisiana 3rd District funding in the legislation. These projects are critical for South Louisiana’s economic prosperity and financial growth.”
The funding will be allocated as follows:
- $2,300,000 to the Port of Morgan City for upgrades to the Emergency Operation Center.
- $2,000,000 to the University of Louisiana at Lafayette for the development of a Biomedical Innovation Center.
Congressman Higgins reaffirmed his commitment to advocating for the district's needs, stating, “My office has long prioritized funding for our communities, and we will continue to work through the Congressional appropriations process to deliver wins for Louisiana.”
