WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Clay Higgins (R-LA) revealed today that FEMA is allocating an additional $32,204,013.10 million in federal grants for hurricane recovery efforts in Southwest Louisiana. The funding stems from the major disaster declaration for Hurricane Laura (DR-4559-LA), which Congressman Higgins supported.

Among the allocations are $3,579,440.76 for repairs to the St. Louis High School old gym, $21,022,560.60 for repairs to the main building, and $7,602,011.74 for repairs to the school campus, all under the Society of the Roman Catholic Church of the Diocese of Lake Charles, with a 90% federal cost-share.

In a statement, Congressman Higgins expressed his satisfaction with the funding outcomes, saying, "The funding for St. Louis Catholic High School and the Diocese of Lake Charles is welcome news. My office worked closely with Diocese leaders to push their applications through the FEMA funding process. During this time, our spirits were high, and our determination remained steadfast. To date, our office has delivered over $4.3 billion in recovery relief, and we will continue to work with our local, state, and federal partners to deliver the needed resources for recovery relief."

The Congressman highlighted the collaborative efforts involved in securing the funding, emphasizing the continuous work with FEMA, state, and local stakeholders. The funds will be channeled to the State of Louisiana, which will then manage their disbursement to the designated recipients.
