WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Higgins (R-LA) expressed his support for the Supreme Court's recent ruling in favor of keeping Donald Trump on the 2024 presidential ballot. In a statement, Higgins emphasized the significance of the Court's decision, stating, "The Supreme Court’s opinion supports deep Constitutional principles and protects our electoral college process. We are a representative Republic, a union of 50 sovereign states. The citizenry of every state should firmly reject elected officials who would weaponize the privilege of statehood. This SCOTUS decision is righteous, but we’re not done. We the People will take whatever actions are necessary to protect our election systems.”

The ruling comes after attempts by Colorado and other states to remove Trump from the ballot were overridden by the Supreme Court. In response to the Colorado Supreme Court's previous ruling, Congressman Higgins introduced the Presidential Ballot Integrity Act, aimed at nullifying the votes of electors who block an official nominee of a major political party from the Presidential ballot.

The legislation introduced by Higgins reflects his commitment to ensuring the integrity of the election process. As the debate surrounding electoral procedures continues, Higgins remains steadfast in his efforts to uphold the principles of the electoral college and protect the rights of voters.

This development underscores the ongoing discussions and legal battles surrounding the 2024 presidential election, highlighting the importance of upholding Constitutional principles and safeguarding the electoral process.
