WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congressman Clay Higgins (R-LA) is actively working to restore postal delivery in Henderson, LA after the United States Postal Service (USPS) terminated its lease for a Contracted Postal Unit (CPU) in the area. This termination has left approximately 200 residents without local mail service, many of whom are elderly or otherwise unable to travel to retrieve their mail.

In a recent conversation with senior USPS officials from Washington, D.C. and Louisiana, Congressman Higgins proposed potential solutions to restore local mail services in Henderson. One proposed solution is to extend nearby carrier routes to cover the impacted households, while another option is to contract with a private business to establish a new CPU in Henderson.

Congressman Higgins expressed his concern over the situation, stating, "It is unfortunate that the people of Henderson have experienced a lapse in local mail service and lost direct access to a post office." He emphasized the importance of a working postal service in delivering essential items such as life-saving medications and regular mail to the residents.

Mayor Sherbin Collette is also working closely with Congressman Higgins and USPS officials to resolve this issue as quickly as possible. The USPS is currently reviewing potential lessors for a new contracted postal unit in Henderson, with the aim of finding the most expedient solution.

During the conversation with USPS officials, Congressman Higgins noted that the team was receptive to their suggestions, stating, "The U.S. Postal Service team was very receptive to our suggestions, and I'm optimistic that we are moving toward a solution."

The restoration of postal delivery in Henderson is a priority for Congressman Higgins, who is dedicated to ensuring that the residents have access to the essential services provided by the USPS. With ongoing efforts and collaboration between local officials and USPS, it is hoped that a resolution will be reached promptly.

The residents of Henderson eagerly await the return of their local mail service, and with the dedication of Congressman Higgins and the support of the USPS, it is expected that a solution will be found in the near future.
