WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Clay Higgins (R-LA) voted to pass H.R. 734, the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act of 2023, which allows biological females to compete against other biological females in women’s sports.
This legislation would amend Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 to clarify that K-12 and institutions of higher education that receive federal funding cannot permit biological males to participate in athletic programs designated for women or girls.
“My Sisters are Sisters, my Brothers are Brothers. Gender should not be a weapon,” said Congressman Higgins. “Biological female athletes are under attack from the radical left, and we must protect our basic, fundamental American values. Those values include fair play.”
Congressman Higgins was an original co-sponsor.
