Small business owners in southwest Louisiana will have the chance this spring to attend free training sessions on government contracting, according to a March 16 announcement from McNeese State University. The “Building Wealth Through Government Contracting” sessions will be led by representatives from the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Louisiana district office.

The training aims to help local entrepreneurs understand how to participate in federal contracting opportunities. Dean Day, center director of the Louisiana Small Business Development Center at McNeese State University, said, “The sessions will introduce local entrepreneurs to the federal contracting process. Participants will learn how the government purchases goods and services, how to register their business in the federal System for Award Management, and how to search, bid and compete for federal contracts using proven best practices.”

Sessions are scheduled for Wednesday, March 25 at the Jeff Davis Chamber of Commerce; Tuesday, April 21 at the Henning SEED Center; and Wednesday, May 13 at the Greater Beauregard Chamber of Commerce. The events are open to business owners, startups and entrepreneurs interested in expanding into government contracting markets.

Registration is available online at louisianasbdc.org under “Training.” For more information about accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), individuals should contact McNeese’s Office of Campus Compliance and Civility at least 72 hours before an event.

McNeese State University has served as an institution of innovation and academic excellence for over 85 years.
