The McNeese women’s basketball team will travel to College Station, Texas, to face Texas A&M in the opening round of the Women’s Basketball Invitation Tournament (WBIT) on March 19. The game time has not yet been set, and all first and second round games will be streamed on ESPN+. A complete bracket with times is expected to be released Monday.
This marks the seventh overall postseason appearance for the Cowgirls and their first since 2016. The matchup will be the twelfth meeting between McNeese and Texas A&M, with the Aggies holding a 9-2 advantage in previous contests. Texas A&M was one of the “First Four Out” of the NCAA tournament bracket, which earned them an automatic spot as a top four seed in the WBIT.
The Aggies have won the last nine meetings against McNeese, including their most recent game played in College Station on November 26, 2014, where Texas A&M won 93-27. The Cowgirls enter this postseason after falling to Stephen F. Austin by a score of 71-59 in the Southland Conference Championship game. Meanwhile, Texas A&M lost to Auburn 50-49 in the first round of the Southeastern Conference Tournament.
