McNeese softball will travel to Lafayette on March 24 for a midweek game against UL-Lafayette, with first pitch scheduled for 6 p.m. The game will be available for streaming on ESPN+.
The Cowgirls enter the contest looking to rebound after losing five of their last six games, including a Southland Conference series sweep at Nicholls over the weekend. The upcoming matchup is significant as McNeese aims to regain momentum in their season.
UL-Lafayette currently leads the all-time series against McNeese, holding a 35-5 advantage. However, McNeese broke a six-game losing streak in this rivalry with a narrow 5-4 victory in Lake Charles last season.
Nyjah Fontenot continues to lead the Cowgirls’ offense, posting a .389 batting average along with 42 runs scored and 29 runs batted in. On the pitching side, Maddie Taylor and Brookelyn Taylor each have seven wins this season; Maddie Taylor holds a record of 7-2 with a 4.21 earned run average (ERA), while Brookelyn Taylor stands at 7-5 with an ERA of 3.15. Kynlei Chapman has contributed as well, recording four wins and four losses alongside her ERA of 4.01.
UL-Lafayette enters the game following a Sun Belt Conference series win over Texas State during the previous weekend, taking two out of three games including Sunday’s deciding match by a score of 6-1.
