McNeese Cowgirls athletes Alexis Dibbley and Brookelyn Taylor were named Southland Conference Softball Players of the Week, according to a March 9 announcement from the conference.
The recognition highlights the strong performances by both players during last week’s games. Dibbley was selected as Hitter of the Week, while Taylor earned Pitcher of the Week honors.
Dibbley, a junior from Moss Bluff, Louisiana, achieved a .750 batting average and a 2.250 slugging percentage over four games. She recorded six hits—all for extra bases—including three home runs and three doubles. Dibbley also contributed six runs batted in, scored seven times, and drew three walks.
Taylor, a freshman from Liberty, Texas, went 2-0 for the week with both victories coming against Lamar in the Southland Conference opening series. She posted a 0.58 earned run average across 12 innings pitched, allowing seven hits and only one earned run while striking out 13 batters—eight of them in her first career conference game against Lamar.
This is Taylor’s second Pitcher of the Week honor this season; she previously received the award on Feb. 23.
The continued success of Dibbley and Taylor underscores McNeese’s strong presence in conference play this season.
