The McNeese women’s tennis team became the winningest squad in program history after defeating UTRGV 5-2 on April 13, securing a school-record 21 wins for the season. The Cowgirls finished the regular season with a 21-1 overall record and went undefeated at 9-0 in Southland Conference play.

This achievement marks the first time a McNeese women’s team has completed an undefeated run in conference matches. Their nine Southland Conference victories are also the third most in program history, while their current streak of sixteen consecutive wins ties for the longest ever by the team.

During Monday’s match, McNeese swept all three doubles contests to take an early lead before winning four singles matches to secure victory. Erica Hagi won her singles match on court five, followed by Elena Morales on court six and Ana Hollweg on court four, clinching the overall result. Alexa Martinez added another point with her straight-set win on court two.

With this latest success, McNeese not only claimed its second-ever Southland Conference regular-season title—having previously shared it in 2018—but also earned its first outright championship after a previous win over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. Several players ended strong individual seasons: Ana Hollweg finished with twenty singles wins; Elena Morales went unbeaten in conference play at eight wins without loss and is currently riding a fourteen-match singles winning streak; Erica Hagi tallied sixteen victories; Salome Fluri had thirteen. Three doubles teams reached double-digit wins as well, led by Hollweg and Naomi Hagi’s nineteen-win partnership that included an eleven-match streak.

Looking ahead, McNeese will enter the Southland Conference Championship as top seed from April 19 to April 21 in Beaumont, Texas. They are scheduled to face the eighth seed at 2 p.m. Sunday.
