McNeese Cowgirls beach volleyball team achieved a milestone on Friday by securing their first-ever win against the College of Charleston during the opening day of the Big Easy Beach Invitational in New Orleans. The 3-2 victory also marks the best season start in program history, improving their record to 8–1.
The decisive point came from the pair Kendall Osgood and McKenzie Moore, who defeated Charleston’s Curry and Thayse with scores of 21-18 and 21-13. Additional wins for McNeese included Simmang and Lansing over Loving and Hopkins (21-17, 21-13), as well as Giarla and Malone defeating Clark and Belak (22-20, 21-18).
Charleston claimed two matches: Duffrier and Newberg beat Durant and Russell (21-18, 21-17), while North and Toscano overcame Cagle and Behneke (21-18, 21-19).
Due to concerns about inclement weather, changes have been made to the tournament schedule. The match against Southeastern was rescheduled to Saturday at 9:00 a.m., with McNeese set to play only one more match this weekend against host team New Orleans at 3:00 p.m.
