The McNeese Cowgirls beach volleyball team finished with a 3-1 record at the Southland Conference Midseason Tournament, according to a March 22 announcement. This result brings their season record to 15-4 overall and 4-2 in conference play.
The team’s performance at the tournament marks its best showing at this event so far. The Cowgirls began Saturday by defeating New Orleans 4-1, marking their third win over the Privateers this season. They followed up with a decisive 5-0 sweep against Stephen F. Austin, which was their first-ever victory over the Ladyjacks and allowed them to close out day one undefeated.
On Sunday, McNeese faced Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and lost 5-0. However, they rebounded in their final match of the weekend by narrowly defeating Houston Christian 3-2. The deciding point came from the No. 5 pair of Isabella Giarla and McKenna Malone, who secured the team victory.
Looking ahead, McNeese will return home on Saturday, March 28 to host the Sandy Poke Invitational and Senior Day. The Cowgirls are scheduled to play Tarleton State at 10 a.m., followed by Southeastern at 2 p.m.
The team’s strong performance at the midseason tournament sets a positive tone as they prepare for upcoming home matches.
