McNeese baseball will open a four-game homestand against Louisiana Tech on April 21, with the first pitch scheduled for 6 p.m. and live streaming available on ESPN+.
The game marks the second meeting between the two teams this season. McNeese previously defeated Louisiana Tech 8-3 in Ruston on February 18, with Jake Blackwell earning his first win and Eric Nachtsheim recording his first save. The Cowboys outhit the Bulldogs in that matchup, collecting five doubles and one home run.
Both teams enter Tuesday’s game following conference series outcomes over the weekend. McNeese (21-19, 10-11) is coming off a series loss to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi that ended their four-game winning streak but saw them outhit their opponent overall. Key performances included Danny Barbero hitting his sixth and seventh home runs of the season along with doubles ten and eleven, Matt Stancliff adding his fifth and sixth home runs, Connor Walker notching his fifth homer, Easton Dowell contributing his seventh double of the year, Isaiah Keller tallying a third home run and double, DJ Pinkerton hitting both a second homer and first triple, while Hayden Stringfellow collected two more doubles.
Louisiana Tech (24-17, 11-7) arrives after taking two out of three games from Kennesaw State in Conference USA play. Over that series Colby Lunsford, Matt Houston, and Trey Hawsey each hit home runs as reported by team sources.
Head Coach Justin Hill enters his thirteenth season leading McNeese as its all-time winningest coach with a record of 365-284 overall and 180-143 in conference play. The Cowboys return twenty players from last year’s roster alongside twenty-one newcomers representing various colleges across multiple states.
Looking ahead this season McNeese will play thirty-two home games including matchups against three opponents who reached last year’s NCAA Regionals: Kansas, Houston Christian University, and LSU—the latter being reigning College World Series champions.
