Lieutenant Alex West was recognized on June 3 for his leadership and dedication within the Jefferson Davis Parish Sheriff’s Office Fleet Division. Sheriff Kyle C. Miers presented West with a challenge coin to honor his service and commitment to improving departmental operations.
West took over the Fleet Division when it was facing significant challenges and operational inefficiencies. Through determination and a commitment to the mission of the Sheriff’s Office, he led an overhaul of the division’s structure and daily workflow.
Under West’s direction, the Fleet Division implemented a consistent weekly maintenance routine for all units. This initiative increased reliability and safety, extended vehicle lifespans, and reduced long-term maintenance costs. The improvements have strengthened operational readiness across the department by ensuring deputies have dependable equipment.
